Walter (Butch) N. Hawbaker, 74, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in his home surrounded by family at his bedside, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 4, 1948, in Harrisburg, PA, to the late Walter and Katherine (Hoover) Hawbaker.
Butch was a very dedicated employee at Karns Foods for the last 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion #109, Mechanicsburg Men’s Club, and a lifetime member of the Businessmen’s League. Butch enjoyed watching baseball, football, and Nascar. He was an avid Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and Jeff Gordon fan. Butch always had a joke to share and his funny sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is his loving wife, Sharon (Hofer) Hawbaker of Mechanicsburg; children, Alicia Gish and husband Rodney of Millerstown, and Renee Mankowsky and husband Alan of Mount Holly Springs; grandchildren, Ashley Conrad, Amanda Boone, Austin Gish, and Ryan Gish; sisters, Jeanette, Katherine and husband Stanley, Joann and husband George; brothers David and wife Denise, Dennis, Terry and wife Kathy, Gary and wife Kathy, Randy and wife Vicki. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Densham.
A visitation will be held at 11am followed by a memorial service at 12pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Avenue Mount Holly Springs, PA 17065, with Reverend Richard Reese officiating.
