Virginia E. Stremmel, 89, of Gilliland Manor, Newville, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was the widow of Levere E. Stremmel who passed away June 21, 2012; they were married on December 20, 1943. Virginia was born January 17, 1924 in Carlisle to the late Harvey & Bertha Hummel Fenicle. She was the manager of Lehman’s Children Store and retired from the former Longs Ladies Shop in Carlisle. A member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, Virginia was active in the choir and the JOY Sunday School Class.
She is survived by two daughter, Cynthia Kay (Charles) Cook of Carlisle and Pamela Sue (Joseph) Stringfellow of Key Colony Beach, FL; three granddaughters, Sondra Kay Taylor, Meredith Virginia Peyser and Madeline Laura Stringfellow and; great granddaughter, Emily Paige Taylor. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Fenicle and three sisters, Helen March, Anna Mellinger and Dorothy Eckenrode.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in her church at 202 West Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Edward Alwine officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
