Violet M. Darhower

Violet M. Darhower, 84, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on February 27, 2024, in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born January 20, 1940, in Carlisle to the late Edward P. and Lucille M. (Richwine) Cleaver.

Violet retired from Kenny Shoe where she worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the Huntsdale Church of Brethren where she participated in the lady’s fellowship, quilting club, and the choir. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Violet loved to travel and listen to music. She loved her fast food.

Surviving Violet are her children, Sue Darhower (Bev Sprout) of Dover, Christine Barbour of East Berlin, Barbara Frey (Steve) of Carlisle, and Stephen Darhower of Carlisle; 5 grandchildren, Chad McCullough, Jody Keller (Mike), Jessica McCullough, David Knight (Jenn McMahon), Becky Shughart (Barry); 13 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and beloved friends, Susan and Mike Sheaffer. In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her grandson, Jamie Darhower; Son -in - law James Barbour; and siblings, Eugene, Glenn, and Doris Cleaver.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, at 10:30 AM in the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Road, Carlisle, PA 17015, with Pastor Darlene Stouffer officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services and burial will be held at the church cemetery.
