Viola Griffie

Viola M. Griffie, 101, formerly of Gardners, PA passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Forest Park Health Center and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA. She was born January 13, 1916 in Mt. Holly Springs, PA to the late Issac N. and Hazel M. Jumper Neal. Viola was the widow of James W. Griffie who passed away in 1991.

Viola worked at the former Carlisle Hospital as the supervisor of housekeeping for 10 years and was a member of Toland Mission Church. She enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles, camping, being in the outdoors and riding horses

She is survived by three daughters, Gloria Bair of Landisburg, Jeanette Jacoby and Donna Failor both of Gardners; brother, Ralph Neal of Gardners; sister, Cecil Rhoads  of Shippensburg; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. Viola was predeceased by son, Gary Griffie; two daughters, Janet and Martha Griffie; grandson, Gary Watson; granddaughter, Tammy Griffie; sister, Edna Mroschok; and twin brothers, Maynard and Braynard.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM  in the Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Robert L. Woodall  officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, PA.
