Velma Ruth Keefer

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Velma Ruth Keefer, loving mother, and grandmother, passed away at Thornwald Home, Carlisle, PA at the age of 89. She was born on March 24, 1933, in Mount Holly Springs to the late Tillman and Mary (Long) Kopp. On December 18,1950, she married the late Alvey J. Keefer, Jr. They were married for 64 years and raised 5 children.  

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Alvey, parents and sisters Geraldine Bear and Martha Metzger; children, Wanda Sue Keefer (infant), Carolyn Lehman and Ronald Keefer; grandchildren, Aaron Moses and Emma Lehman.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Dale) Myers, Diana (Stuart) Moses, David Keefer, son-in-law, Dennis Lehman, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Keefer; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Her greatest role was being a loving mother and grandmother.

However, throughout her life, Velma worked at several local factories including; Mt. Holly Dress Factory, McCoy Electronics, Reeves Hoffman and retired from F.W. Woolworths. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Pastor Matt Plant officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 5pm-7pm at Hollinger Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the services on Monday.
