Stuart C. Kines, 94, of Carlisle, PA, died on March 23, 2015 at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community. His beloved wife of 60 years, Beryl Brenneman Kines, predeceased him in 2008. Stuart had four children: Nancy, Patricia, Susan and Tom, and eight grandchildren. He studied hotel management at the Pennsylvania State University and interrupted his course work to enlist in the US Marine Corps at the outbreak of WWII. Stu rose to the rank of Captain and fought in the battles of Guadalcanal, Guam and Okinawa. He returned to PSU for graduate work and was on the faculty of PSU. During his career, Stuart worked for the American Hotel Corporation, and Marriott and Hilton Hotel Corporations managing hotels and restaurants throughout the US. He then worked as a bailiff at the Cumberland County Courthouse.
Stu took pride in his lifelong involvement in community and church organizations. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America, was a Rotarian for over 60 years, and was a Master Mason and member of the Robert Burns Lodge F&AM for over 60 years. Stu’s greatest passion was sports and he remained an avid Penn State fan. The family wishes to thank the many people whose friendship and caring added joy to Stu's 94 years of life.
