Shryle Diehl passed away in her home embraced by the loving arms of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her “knight in shining armour”, Wilbert L. Diehl. Their unbreakable bond was formed in high school and continued throughout their lives.
She was the daughter of John P. and Pearl C. McCoy and grew up on Pine Road beside Yellow Breeches Creek with her cousin and best friend, Joan Posey. Only 3 weeks apart in age, they have been connected at the hip for 91 years. Wib and Shryle’s homes never strayed too far from that gently flowing body of water.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Robin L. Diehl (Nichole Toler) and Kate Diehl; her sister, Jackie Bowers (Donald Bowers); her grandchildren - Tracy Barclay (Michelle Freitas), Bryn Diehl, Ross (Jennifer Infante) Arment and Isaiah Diehl and great grandson, Ari Fischer Arment.
Shryle graduated from Boiling Springs High School. Post graduation, she obtained her cosmetology license and operated a beauty shop in her home. After that, she owned and operated three business shops in Carlisle, Uniformly Yours, East End Women’s Fashions and Sassy Cuts Hair Salon. Even though she was a successful business woman, she lived in her heart, in laughter and in love.
Shryle entertained with gusto and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She delighted in preparing new dishes and was an accomplished self-taught cook, following in her mother’s footsteps. Shryle loved music and the theatre attending Broadway shows and local performances at Allenberry Playhouse. She reveled in sharing her passions with friends and supported her daughters’ activities, especially musical endeavors and sports, well into their adult lives. Shryle had a great capacity for joy and was never happier than when sharing life and laughter with those she cared about.
Although she never studied music or drama formally, her flair for the extravagant manifested itself in many ways – her clothing, shoes and handbags, JEWELRY –
Why Wib had to work so hard his entire life, social party butterfly, singing with the Sweet Adelines, directing the church choir, pantomime performances and telling funny stories. It was so easy to be drawn into her world. She could be your champion as well as your confidant. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Her life force was in no way faint, and her love knew no bounds.
The family would like to thank her kind and longtime caregiver, Thomas Adams and her most recent support staff - Gay Fitzgerald, Sheila Eason, Cathy Baughman, Emma Foye, RN and her physician, Dr. Mary Catharine Sneider.
Services will be private and handled by Hollinger Funeral Home in Mt. Holly Springs. Photos, in all stages of her life, may be viewed on their website. In lieu of flowers, please support local businesses and independent entrepreneurs.
