Shirley Porter

Shirley R. Porter, 78, of Mt. Holly Springs passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of James F. Porter who passed away April 19, 2006. Shirley was born June 15, 1935 in Shippensburg to the late Roy A. and Ruth Gerhart Gipe.  Shirley retired from the former Town & Country and was a former employee of McCoy Electronics.  She was a member of New Life Community Church, Mt. Holly Springs, loved Christian music, and collected angels and old Santas.  Shirley dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Jerry S. (Doris) Porter of Plainfield and four daughters, Teresa V. Porter of Mt. Holly Springs, Sharon L. Alexander and late husband Kenneth of Shippensburg, Kerry A. (William) Ocker of Newville and Heidi L. (Bruce) Baitsell of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Tracy, Mindy, Keith, Sammy, Justin, Sara and a special person, Tiff, who was like a granddaughter; four great grandchildren: Tara, Megan, Abby and Jaxson; and a great great grandson, Thomas. Surviving are four sisters: Beatrice Nye of Newburg, Betty Baker of Lurgan, Margaret Jumper of Shippensburg and Donna Shuman of Scotland. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and Richard Gipe.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Ryan Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 30 from 6 to 8 PM and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday.
