Roy E. Weaver, 82, formerly of Carlisle, PA passed away on June 22, 2016 at the Copperas Cove Nursing and Rehab Center in Copperas Cove, Texas. Born June 1, 1934 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Roy S. and Hilda M. (Wolfe) Weaver and was the loving husband of the late Millie C (Koontz) Weaver for almost 60 years.
Drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War, Roy served in Baumholder, Germany with the 606 th Ordinance Company. In 1983, after 15 years as owner and operator of the Roy E. Weaver Roofing Company, he retired and went to work at the Cumberland County Court House in the maintenance department until early 1999. Roy then began driving for L and L Transportation and Easton Coach retiring again in 2014. Memberships included: Newville VFW, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1299, Carlisle Elks Lodge 578 and the White Circle Club, Carlisle.
Roy always had a joke or story to share, and at one time he could recite the story of Rindercella. He possessed an easy smile, a great sense of humor, and could easily be called upon for great common sense advice.
He is survived by two daughters, Hildie (Andy) Myers of Carlisle and Kathryn (Rodney) Conrad of Copperas Cove, TX (with whom he lived); and two brothers, William (Beatrice) Weaver of Carlisle and Leonard (Audrey) Weaver of Spring Grove, PA. Also surviving are grandsons, Troy (Ellen) Myers and Jake Myers, both of Carlisle, SFC Dustin Conrad of Camp Casey, South Korea and wife, Valerie of Fort Sill, OK, and one granddaughter, Heather Conrad of Plano TX. Great grandchildren include: Gavin, Aiden and Liam Myers of Carlisle, and Kacie, Kylie, and Dylan Conrad of Fort Sill, OK. He was preceded in death by a son, Randolph E. Weaver and a sister, Roxanne Westfall Batz.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Church of God Home Chapel, 801 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Rev. Bradley V. Moore officiating. Inurnment will be in the North Middleton Church of God Cemetery with military honors by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
