Roy “Skip” D. Gottshall, Jr., 90, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on July 5, 2024, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was born November 27, 1933, in Carlisle, PA, to the late Roy D. and Pearl (Wetzel) Gottshall, Sr., and was the widower of Patricia (Price) Gottshall, who passed away January 8, 2020.
Roy was a Boiling Springs High School Graduate, Class of 1951 and was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from Amp Inc., with 43 years of service, where he a tool and die maker. Roy was also a self-employed auctioneer since the age of 26, a family business he inherited from his father, Roy Gottshall Sr. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 8851 and Carlisle Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, Roy would enjoy meeting friends at John’s Hideaway restaurant, where he spent a lot of time. Roy knew Boiling Springs history as if he was the Boiling Springs Historical Society. He enjoyed sitting down to read the local newspapers from front to back. Roy was a great family man with a huge heart and loving personality and was known for his witty comments. He could always be counted on for his solid advice when any family member needed guidance.
Surviving are his children, Kim Giselman (companion, Jeff Rajchel) of Mechanicsburg and Dee Paulus (Todd) of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Rachel Giselman, Lauren Gaffney (Jamie), Shane Paulus (Kimberly) and Amanda Paulus (Kayla); great-grandchildren, Charlie, Jack, Andrew, Cora and one on the way. A special mention of his sidekick in life and furry companion, RJ.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM, in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 PM until the time of service and Burial will be held at a later date in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs.
