Ronald W. Sheaffer, 79, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born August 23, 1934 in Carlisle to the late George C. and Martha Wagner Sheaffer. Ron was the former owner and operator of Sheaffer Studios, Carlisle and also of Wagburn Trucking, Mt. Holly Springs. He retired from Sheaffer Trucking, New Kingstown. Ron was a Past Exalted Ruler of Carlisle BPOE # 578, a member of the Carlisle VFW # 477 and also the American Legion # 674, Mt. Holly Springs. He was a former photographer for the Carlisle Police Dept.,  a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol and played for the Cumberland  Colts Semi-Pro Football League. Ron was a Navy veteran of the Korean War on the USS Leyte (CVS-32) aircraft carrier.

He is survived by his wife, Rosealma B. Gamache Sheaffer; two daughters, Roxanne Klinger of Harrisburg and Rhonda Sheaffer of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Joseph and Shawn Klinger and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Jean Yohn of Dillsburg, Jane Horn of Carlisle and Christine Fadness of Somerset.

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Carlisle BPOE Lodge #578. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. Online condolences may be made to www.hollingerfuneralhome.com
