Ronald Bixler

Ronald L. Bixler, 75, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 in his home. He was born August 18, 1940 in Carlisle, PA to the late Elmer and Elizabeth Kough Bixler. Ronald retired from the PA Fish & Boat Commission in 2000 with 35 years of service as a fish culturist at the Huntsdale facility. A member of St. John’s Lodge #260 F&AM for over 50 years and the Barnitz United Methodist Church, he was also a member and volunteer of the Huntsdale Fire Co. # 50 and served on the board of trustees.  In his spare time, Ronald supported and attended the Carlisle Thundering Herd sports programs and especially enjoyed basketball. Vacationing in Stone Harbor, helping his children raise sheep for 4H and checking out the community and surrounding areas in his truck were some of his favorite pastimes. He served 3 years in the Armored and Cavalry Regiment of the Army National Guard.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn Slabonic Bixler;  a son, Jason A. (Megan) Bixler of Mt. Holly Springs; a daughter, Kelly B. (Steven) Nye of Newburg and; his brother, Credon (Carolyn) Bixler  and sister in law, Joyce Bixler all of Carlisle. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Bixler.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, Pa 17065 with Rev. Matthew Plant officiating. Interment will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Hospice, 900 Century Dr., Suite 201, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or a charity of your choice. Relatives and friends are invited back to the Barnitz U.M.
