Rodney Miller Jr.

Rodney S. Miller Jr., 76, of Gardners, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home. He was born September 14, 1938 in Carlisle to the late Rodney S. and Dorothy E. Barbour Miller Sr.

Rodney graduated from Biglerville High School in 1956 and was a graduate of Gettysburg College, Class of 1960. He owned and operated Miller’s Tree Farm and sold insurance for the Washington National Insurance Company for 25 years. Rodney was a life member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Goodyear and the Carlisle BPOE # 578. Other memberships included: St. John’s Lodge # 260 F&AM, The Mechanicsburg Club, National Rifle Association, Mt. Holly Springs Fish and Game, Adams County Fish and Game and the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Assoc. Rodney was a loving family man; he adored his three very special granddaughters and always had a welcoming smile for those he met. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Donna C. Weidner Miller; two daughters, Jodi (Terry) Holsopple and Tammi (Rodney) Beamer, both of Gardners; three grand-daughters, Tasha Beamer of Hatboro, PA, Amber Holsopple of Millvale, PA and Heather Beamer of Gardners, PA; two brothers, Charles E. (Beverly) Miller of Scotland, PA and Joseph F. (Binh) Miller of Chubbuck, ID; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA   with Rev. David Clark officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 9 from 7- 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in the Goodyear Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Mt.
