Richard Sweitzer

Richard K. Sweitzer, 83, of Gardners, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at his home. He was born April 15, 1931 in York, PA to the late Elmer H. & Lottie Black Sweitzer. Richard was a graduate of Biglerville High School class of 1949, worked for Masland & Sons for over 30 years and then retired from Knouse Foods at Peach Glen. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Adams County Fish & Game, Upper Adams Fish & Game, Boiling Springs Sportsman’s Club, Mt. Holly Springs VFW # 7343 and American Legion #674. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors, gardening, riding his tractor and enjoyed memories of his beloved John Deere tractor. Richard dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Richard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary Thomas Sweitzer; a daughter, Dianne C. Sweitzer; his son, Kenneth R. (Ann) Sweitzer all of Gardners; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Sweitzer and two sisters, Mary Krafft and Caroline Giuffrida.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev David Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Goodyear Cemetery. The viewing will be held Monday, August 11, from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
