Richard Eugene Kendall, 76, of Carlisle, PA, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1942 in York, PA to the late Edgar Frank and Frances Bell (Largent) Kendall.
Richard worked for Book of the Month Club in shipping and receiving and was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Carlisle, a lifetime member of the Friendship Firehouse and a former member of the American Legion Post 101, where he served as Past Adjutant. Enjoying the great outdoors, Richard loved hunting, fishing and sitting on his porch watching traffic and interacting with neighbors. In his spare time, he enjoyed solving word search puzzles.
Surviving is his loving wife, Linda Jean (Early) Kendall of Carlisle; children, Brian Kendall of Carlisle, Michael Kendall and wife, Christa of East Durham, NY, Keith Kendall and wife, Lisa of Boiling Springs and Michelle Hilliard of Buckhannon, WV; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, William and Thomas Kendall.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the First United Church of Christ, 30 N. Pitt St., Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Chris Schwab officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. The family requests that everyone dress casual. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburg, PA 17043. Arrangements are being handled by the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt.
