Ray E. “Jack” Sherman, 90, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 at the Valley View Retirement Community in Belleville, PA. He was born Dec. 17, 1923 in Mt. Holly Springs to the late John Hunter and Cecelia Eckenrode Sherman and was the widower of Elizabeth Pauline Hoffman Sherman.
Jack was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific and retired from the Mechanicsburg Defense Depot where he worked as a shipping clerk. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist church and enjoyed watching sports and caring for his yard. Jack loved spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Marie Sherman (Bill Arden) of Minneapolis, MN and Deborah Kay Myers (Jay) of McVeytown, PA; 3 grandsons, Joshua Quaye William Landis of Salem, OR, James Hunter Myers of Efland, NC and David Kane Myers (Pamela) of Waynesboro, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was the last of ten siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:30 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Gerald Peachey officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
