Ray R. Myers Jr., 74, of Newville, PA passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at his home. He was born May 2, 1942 in Boiling Springs, PA to the late Ray R. Sr. and Ethel V. Carey Myers.
Ray served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired from Texas Eastern Gas in 2004. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, Shilo American Legion Post #791 and Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post #674. An avid NASCAR and Sprint Car fan, Ray attended many races including the Daytona 500. Fishing and carving duck decoys were his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ruth Ann Myers of Newville; a daughter, Tina Louise McCauslin of York Haven; two stepsons, Robert L. Ferree Jr. of Mt. Holly Springs and Ryan D. Ferree of Gardners and one step-grandchild, Layne Ferree. Also surviving are brothers, Robert L. (Cheryl) of Camp Hill, and Charles (Jane) of Carlisle; sisters, Margaret Gruber (Merv Weaver) of Middletown and Mildred Deitch (Sonny) and Bonita Getz (Robert) both of Newville; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth Myers and John Myers; sisters, Kay Myers and Mary Jane Myers Wagner; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Ferree.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. Edward Alwine officiating with military honors presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the service on Thursday. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), P.O. Box 527, Carlisle, PA 17013.
