Philip Them, 90, of Carlisle, PA passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Thornwald Home, Carlisle surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 19, 1926 in College Point, NY to the late Nicolai and Barbara Fischer Them.
Philip served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from the Tri Boro Bridge and Tunnel Authority in New York as a Bridge and Tunnel Officer. He was a member of Boiling Springs VFW Post 8851 and was also a member of St. Patrick Church in Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Hendrika Barneveld Them of Carlisle; his daughter, Anne Planchak and husband Joseph of Virginia; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also his sister, Katherine Morales of New Jersey and a daughter in law, Debra Them of Mt. Holly Springs. He was preceded in death by his son, Peter Them in 2016.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, PA with the Rev. Donald Bender as celebrant. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt Holly Springs, PA 17065. Burial will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery, Mt. Holly Springs, PA with military honors conducted by The Cumberland County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Patrick Church, 152 East Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to Angel Flight, 4620 Haygood Rd. Ste.1 Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
