Patrick Thomas Shank, 50, of Tempe, AZ ( formerly of York Springs, PA) passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his residence in Tempe, AZ. He was born September 26, 1965 in Gettysburg, Pa to Carla (Sentz-Shank) Bretz of Mechanicsburg, PA and Gary E. Shank (Joyce Pennington, companion) of York Springs, PA. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Cloyd and Thelma Shank and his stepfather, M. Henry Bretz.
Patrick was a graduate of Bermudian Springs High School and Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). Patrick had a varied work history as he worked for Maison International in New York City as a comptroller and was the financial consultant for the Key West Business Guild and a marketing consultant for Key West Hideaways in Key West, Fl. He was also as avid supporter of many Key West charities and causes. He was especially proud of being the first comptroller of Out Magazine that is based in New York City. Patrick loved music, his friends, and family and he was an exceptional pianist. He loved reading, traveling, and meeting new people. His personality was such that his friends describe him as " ..having a smile that would light up the room when he walked in!" He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents; maternal grandmother, Esther (Sentz) Snyder of McSherrystown, PA; a sister, Dr. Tracy S. Shank of Reading, PA; two brothers, Brian (Kimberly) Shank of Dillsburg, PA and Jason (Carla) Shank of York, PA; two nieces, Kennedy and McKenzie Shank of Dillsburg, PA; a nephew, Zac Snyder of York, PA. Patrick is also survived by his best friend of many years, John Giuliano and John's dog, Leo to whom Patrick was "Uncle Patrick"!
A memorial services celebrating his life will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, York Springs, PA at the convenience of the family.
