Patricia Marie Rice

Patricia Marie Rice, 97, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on April 15, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 17, 1927, in New Jersey to the late James and Margaret McCarthy. She was the widow of Ralph “June” Edgar Rice who passed away in 2006.

Patricia was the co-owner/operator of her family farm in Gardners, PA. She was also co-operator of a Fruit Market on Queen Street in York, PA. Patricia worked for Kinney Shoe in her younger years. She enjoyed gardening and planting and picking flowers to make floral arrangements for local markets and craft shows. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends. 

Surviving are her children, Connie Beaston of Carlisle and Kevin Rice (Rebecca) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Mike Brickner, Stacey Wills, Leah and Sawyer Rice; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother, James “Jimmy” McCarthy of Georgia. In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Steven R. Rice; grandson, Mark Brickner; and siblings, Virginia, Peggy, Tom, Jerry, Mike, and Dave. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at 1008 Acre Drive, Carlisle, PA17013. Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Pkwy, #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
