Norman L. Plank Jr., 71, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, in the Forest Park Health Center. He was the widower of Frances Jean Plank who passed away September 2009. Norman was born November 18, 1942 in Alexandria, LA to the late Norman L. & Arvella May Plank Sr.
He was a graduate of Gettysburg High School, class of 1960, attended Muscatine College, Muscatine, Iowa and a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa. Norman was the former owner of Carlisle Chiropractic Center. He was a Scout Master of Troop #170, Mt. Holly Springs, a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church and a life member of the NRA. Interested in the Civil War, he was a member of the North-South Skirmish Assoc.; Adjutant, First PA Rifles for 4 years and; Commander, of First PA Rifles for 4 years. Norman also was commander of Allegheny Region N-SSA for 10 years and National Adjutant N-SSA for 4 years. He was the Skirmish Director for two National Skirmishes at Fort Shenandoah VA (Winchester) and published articles about the Civil War.
Surviving Norm is his daughter, Teri (Paul) Zeigler of Newville; two sons, Todd Plank of Gardners and Sean (Michele) Plank of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Brianna, Ian, Caleb, and Cayden and two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Lacy. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert L. (Connie) Plank of Cashtown, PA and Phillip L. (Brenda) Plank of Gettysburg; his sister, Virginia L. (Hoat) Ho of Matthews, NC and his former wife and lifelong friend, Annette Sites, of Newville. He was predeceased by step-granddaughter, Julie.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 7:00 PM in his church at 202 West Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs with Rev. Edward Alwine officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yellow Breeches EMS, 233 Mill St., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 or his church.
