Norman E. Fenton Jr., 88, of Carlisle, PA, passed away February 24, 2018 at the UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle. He was born in Carlisle, PA on January 8, 1930 to the late Norman E. and Naomi (Peters) Fenton Sr.
Norman retired from Conrail after forty years of service as a railroad conductor and was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War . He enjoyed spending winters in Homosassa, FL, listening to country music, and was an avid football fan, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. In his spare time, Norman read the morning paper everyday and watched soap operas and NASCAR. He also liked spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley M. Fenton of Carlisle; three children, Steven L. Fenton and wife, Deborah of Carlisle, Linda L. Thumma and husband, Lester of Mt. Holly Springs and Susan K. Kuykendall and husband, Terry of Woodbine, GA; step-sons, Craig and Joann Sanderson and Stephen Sanderson . Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will take place in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM until the services. Memorial Contributions may be made to Carlisle Regional Cancer Center, 25 Sprint Dr., Carlisle, PA 17015 or the Geisinger Holy Spirit, Ortenzio Heart Center, 503 N. 21 st Street Camp Hill, PA 17011.
