Nancy E. Mullen, 83, of Dickinson Twp., Carlisle passed away Wednesday at her home after a nine year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the widow of Guy Mullen, who passed away March 16, 2005. Nancy was born July 24, 1929 in Steelton, PA, to the late John and Evelyn Lowder Riggs.
She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and the Harrisburg School of Nursing, where she received her RN Degree. Nancy was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Dickinson and Carlisle Running Club and the Nursing Association. She played the piano, loved to quilt, and enjoyed cooking and baking. Nancy competed in several marathons and triathlons.
Nancy is survived by her son, Gary J. (Deborah) Mullen of Carlisle, and her daughter, Ellen J. (Randy) Hoon of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are her grandsons, Scott Hoon of Harrisburg and Chad Toner, and his daughtes, Roxy and Skye of Milton, FL, and her brother, William (Wendy) Riggs of Mechanicsburg. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her private nurses, Dottie Steele and Gladys Lewis.
Family and friends are invited on Sunday, April 28, 2013 for a visitation from 1 to 2 PM, with light refreshments at the home of her son, Gary, 8 Yellow Breeches Rd., Dickinson Twp., Carlisle, PA 17015. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM officiated by the Rev. Robert Baldwin. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
