Mildred Garner

Mildred L. Garner, 75, of Carlisle passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Cumberland County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born February 15, 1939 in Carlisle to the late Carl E. Loughran and Mary Sampson Shirley

Mildred retired from the Cumberland County Home where she was employed in the Facilities Dept. and was a former member of the Eagles #1299. Easy going, she enjoyed people and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mildred enjoyed taking vacations, completing word searches, playing bingo and decorating her home with a cow motif.

She is survived by her loving companion of 40 years, Art Rhoads of Plainfield; three daughters, Brenda (Tim) Pennabaker, Mary (Larry) Campbell, and Rose Mower; two sisters, Donna Rickrode and Barbara Tolly; and one brother, Donald Shirley, all of Carlisle. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mildred was predeceased by a grandson, Donald Showers.

Memorial services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. There will be a visitation from 9:30 AM until the service time.
