Michael C. Valek

Michael C. Valek, 72, of Newville, PA, passed away on September 17, 2024, in the UPMC Carlisle Hospital. He was born July 14, 1952, in Kittanning, PA, to the late Clemet C. and Delores J. (Croyle) Valek.

Michael retired from DISA, Naval Supply Depot, where he was a clerk. He was a member of the Christian Life Community Church, Newville, American Legion Post 421 in Newville, VFW Post 6070 also in Newville, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 1299 in Carlisle. Michael volunteered his time helping with parades, fairs, and projects in the Newville area, as well as the work Christmas party for the under privileged. He was a very giving person, always offering a helping hand. Michael was very proud of the memorial garden he designed to memorialize Veterans at the Naval Supply Depot. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed entertaining people by playing Santa Clause, a clown, and performing magic.

Surviving is his loving wife, Karen (Elsesser) Valek of Newville; children, Michael Valek of Newville and Maria Butler (Mark) of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Connor and Julia of Arlington, TX, and lastly nephew, Matthew McNeal of Apollo, PA. Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Linda J. Valek.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM in the Christian Life Community Church, 3151 Ritner Hwy, Newville, PA 17241 with Pastor Kurt Kimmel officiating.
