Maxine Mellott

Maxine Mellott, 73, of Gardners, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born in Gardners, PA on June 16, 1940 to the late Harper and Sylvia D. Coulson Smith and was the loving wife of Melvin Mellott Sr. for 52 years.

In her younger years, Maxine enjoyed flower gardening and canning.  She loved going to yard sales, and watching her “soaps” and the western channel on TV. Maxine was fun-loving and outgoing; she was especially fond of her Jack Russell, Emmie.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons: Melvin Mellott Jr. of Boiling Springs, Jeff Mellott and companion Gary of Gardners; James Mellott of Mechanicsburg; and Greg Smith and wife Sharon of Mt. Holly Springs. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Erma Elicker (Lewis) of Dillsburg and a brother, Robert (Janet) Smith of Gardners. She was predeceased by 7 sisters and 5 brothers.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. There will be a viewing on Thursday in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Interment will be in the Mt. Victory Cemetery, Gardners, PA.
