Mary Slyder

Mary M. "Muz" Slyder, 88, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle. Mary was the widow of Frank W. Slyder Sr. who passed away April 2, 2009. She was born November 21, 1928 in Mt. Holly Springs, PA to the late Mervin F. and Juanita J. Myers Minnich. Frank always called Mary “Muz,” and together they built the Frank W. Slyder Plumbing and Heating company where she worked as the secretary, bookkeeper and office manager. In addition, they traveled to all seven continents and cruised over 1 million miles. Muz loved playing Bingo and was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Frank W. (Gretchen) Slyder Jr. of Travelers Rest, SC, David A. (Beth) Slyder of Greenville SC and James H. (Mary) Slyder of Mt. Holly Springs and three daughters, Patricia S. (Steven) Bear of Carlisle, Letitia S. Fuller of Enola and Lou Ann Slyder of Harrisburg.  Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Doris J. Miller of Manchester, PA, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Mervin B. Minnich, her twin, Ada Fahnestock and June DeVanie.

A visitation to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
