Mary Louise (Trainor) Ingle, 90, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Church of God Nursing Home, Carlisle. She was born March 24, 1933, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late William and Ellen (Sullivan) Trainor and was the widower of Richard Ingle who passed away October 15, 1994.
Mary graduated with a bachelor’s from the University of Rhode Island where she met and eventually married her late husband. After graduating from college, Mary worked as schoolteacher in Rhode Island. A devoted mother to her four of her children, put her further education on hold while her children were young, but eventually earned a master’s degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University in her late 50’s. She was a social worker for most of her life, employed over her years of service at Mentor Health and the Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties. Her strength and resilience were undeniable throughout her lifetime, and she was a proud breast cancer survivor. After serving the public and her family, Mary continued her life of service, as a Librarian at Bosler Library in Carlisle and spent many years teaching children the love of reading. Mary was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Carlisle. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was also passionately involved with local politics and could always be found volunteering during election time.
Surviving are her children, Kathryn Ingle of Boiling Springs, Robert Ingle of Salt Lake City, and Peter (Krista) Ingle of Park City, Utah; grandchildren, Erin (Nick) Frank, Abby (Kerry) Fitzgerald, Gunnar Ingle, Anders Ingle; great grandchildren, Ella and Leah Frank, Ryann, Liam, and Ava Fitzgerald. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, William (Bill) Ingle who passed away June 29, 2015.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM, in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with officiating. A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be held in the Saint Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bosler Library, 158 W High Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 or Saint Patrick Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015.
