Mary Gibb Taylor

Mary J. Gibb Taylor, 81, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in her home. She was born March 30, 1933 in West Pennsboro Twp., PA to the late Guy and Mary Miller Mentzer. Mary was the widow of Charles Gibb who passed away in 1974 and Robert Taylor who passed away in 1997.

Mary retired from the Capital Area Intermediate Unit after 28 years of service and was a member of the Carlisle First Church of God. Her favorite pastimes were sewing, quilting and reading. She also enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, especially feeding and watching the birds.

She is survived by a daughter, Susie (Benny) Keck of Carlisle; a son, David (Brenda) Gibb of Dillsburg; 4 grandchildren, Mackenzie and Benjamin Keck, and Dustin and  Kailey Gibb; 4 step children, Connie Marks, Barbara (Donald) Lynch, Roxanne  Killinger and Tina (Neale) Magill; a brother, Dick Mentzer of Carlisle; a sister, Dorothy Stone of Plainfield. Mary was predeceased by 5 brothers, Edgar, Carl Arthur, Donald, and Guy Mentzer; 3 sisters, Ruth Miller, Faye Schlusser and Hazel Mentzer; and son-in-law, Rev.Dennis Killinger.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA with Rev. Michael Poe and Rev. Greg Hench officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to the American Cancer for Research, C/O Betsy’s Bunch Relay for Life Team, 2 Lemoyne Dr., Ste 101, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
