Martha Steigleman

Martha L. Steigleman, 71, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence.  Born April 26, 1948 in Carlisle, PA to the late Willie H. and Goldie E. (Shank) Berger,  she is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Gerald Steigleman.

Martha worked for the PA National Insurance Company for 6 years; she then became a mother and focused on her children. After her children started school,  Martha was employed by the Cumberland Valley School District and retired with 21 years of service as a teaching assistant. The children could never pronounce her last name so they called her Mrs. S; one of Martha's gifts was her ability to remember every child's name. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed walking and attending her grandchildren's soccer and football games and cheerleading activities.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Stacy R. Steigleman Hart (Robert) of Enola and Brian G. Steigleman (Amy) of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Bryden and Landen Hart and Gerald and Karlee Steigleman; and siblings, Richard L. (Bill) Berger of Carlisle and George B. Shank (JoAnn) of Carlisle. Martha was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Shriver Dilbeck and sister-in-law, Linda Berger.
