Margaret Westbrook

Margaret (Peg) Westbrook, 92, formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away September 5, 2014, at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. Born on February 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Annie (Givler) Witter.

Margaret was a graduate of the Mechanicsburg Area School District, Class of 1939. She was a lifelong member of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church where she volunteered and was a member of their cemetery committee. Peg retired from the Cumberland Valley School District where she worked for many years in food services and served as the Southern Region President for the Pennsylvania School Service Personnel Association. She enjoyed history, was an avid Penn State fan, but more than anything else, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Westbrook, Sr. and her brothers, Austin, James and Wayne Witter. She is survived by her children, Robert H. Westbrook, Jr. and his wife Dorothy, Suellen Vander Gheynst and her husband Carl, and James H. Westbrook, as well as, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2014 with the Rev. Bebb Stone, Ph. D. officiating.

There will be a visitation from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Rolling Green Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church or to Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
