Margaret S. Spahr, 86, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on August 17, 2024, in the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Nursing Home, Carlisle. She was born May 15, 1938, in Clearfield, PA, to the late Blair and Evelyn (Leitzinger) Sykes. She was the widow of Tim Spahr.

Margaret was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Clearfield. She earned her bachelors degree from Villa Maria College and her master’s degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University. Margaret taught 2nd grade at Stevens Elementary and was a home school coordinator and social worker for Carlisle School District. She volunteered for United Way of Carlisle and various other organizations. 

Surviving Margaret are many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Benjamin, Russell, John, William, Edward, Lewis Sykes, and Mary Heineman, Elizabeth Kaufman, Barbara Henry, Eleanor Antenucci, Sarah Hodge and Virginia Norris.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Share of Carlisle, 5 N. Orange Street #4, Carlisle, PA 17013.
