Lloyd Elmer "Joe" Penner Sr.

Lloyd Elmer "Joe” Penner Sr., age 100, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home.

He was born October 5, 1915 to the late Elmer Jarrett and Elizabeth Humes Penner in Idaville, PA. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, Cumberland Star Lodge #197, Royal Arch Chapter #171, Harrisburg Consistory, and F.O.E. #1299. He was also a charter member of the Rock-N-Rye Hunting Camp where he loved to spend time with the guys hunting and hiking in the mountain. He was an employee of the former Masland Carpets, retiring in 1977 after 39 years of service. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife of 74 years Esther King Penner in 2012, an infant daughter, Joanne Louise, a grandson Douglas K. Morrison, 5 sisters, and 1 brother.

He is survived by his son, Lloyd E. "Pete" Penner Jr. and wife Patricia W. of Mt. Holly Springs; two daughters, Dorothy P. Morrison of Mechanicsburg and Marjorie P. Burkhart and husband Mark N. of Dover; three grandchildren, Lynne Boyd & husband Darryl, Amy Penner, and Jon Burkhart & wife Tennille; three great grandchildren, Elysia Ehrich & husband Dan, Shannon Buhrman & husband Harry III, and Conner Burkhart; and three great-great grandchildren, Asher Ehrich, Phoenix Buhrman, and Lennix Buhrman.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, November 12, at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 W. Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs with the Rev. Edward Alwine officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Church of God Cemetery, North Middleton Twp., at the convenience of the family.
