Linda Jill Martin, 77, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on August 14, 2024, in the UPMC West Shore Hospital. She was born December 19, 1946, in Germany, to the late Kurt and Herta (Nickstadt) Jakuttis.
Linda was born Monika Gerlinda Jakuttis, in Germany shortly after WWII, where she played amid the ruins as her family moved frequently and dealt with food shortages and the devastation left by the war. In 1956, she and her parents, older sister; Heidi, and older brother; Manfred (Fred), moved to America where they lived in Ballston Spa, NY, and took the surname “Jacobs”. Eventually Linda and her mother moved to the Carlisle area where she graduated from Carlisle High School in 1965.
Linda was employed at McCoy/Oak Industries in Mt. Holly Springs for over 30 years, then went on to work at the Camp Hill Prison where she later retired. She was an avid cat lover and a tireless champion of trap and neuter in her community.
Surviving Linda is her son, Cris W. Martin of York; nephew, Ron Monaco; and nieces, Sylvia DuPont and Terilyn.
