Lavern E. Beam

Lavern E. Beam, 90, of Carlisle, PA, and formerly of Gardners, passed away July 7, 2024. He was born September 3, 1933, in Dickinson Twp. to the late Clifford Elsworth and Olive (Fanus) Beam.

Lavern retired from Ahlstrom Paper Mill in Mt. Holly Springs and was previously employed by C.H. Masland and Rufe Chevrolet. He was also proprietor of Beams Garage in the mid 60’s. Lavern was a member of the Wesleyan Church of the Cross of Carlisle. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin, hunting, woodworking, and being with his family.

Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Carolyn (Snyder) Beam of Carlisle; three daughters, Laurie Beetem of Mechanicsburg, Terri Mumper (Rev. John) of Lewisburg, and Kathy Redmond of Mt. Holly Springs; four grandsons, Eric, Craig, and Kyle Mumper, and Brian Redmond; six great grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Sowers of California, Nancy Fernbaugh of Carlisle, and brother, Clifford Beam of Dillsburg. Lavern was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Kuntz; and brother, Leo Beam.

The family would like to thank Residential Hospice Home Health Aides for their excellent care during the last two years.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 5:00 PM in the Hilltop Community Church, 202 W Butler St, Mt Holly Springs, PA 17065, with Pastor John Mumper officiating. A visitation will be held at 4:30 PM until time of service and a time of fellowship and light meal to follow services after. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3551 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19140, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
