Larry R. Carey, 74, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 in the Hershey Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1941 in Adams County to the late Kenneth and Ethel Galloway Carey. Larry retired in 2003 from PPG Industries and then worked for AC Moore as a floral designer. A member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, he taught Sunday school for over 30 years. Talented as a decorator and painter, Larry loved to create and was an active crafter for over 25 years. He was a Staff SGT in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce A. Bream Carey; his daughter and son in law, Dawn and Steve Loy of Gardners; godfather to Alex Berg of Texas; and his siblings, Joan Carey and Phil Carey, both of York Springs, and Michael Carey of Aspers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, Pa 17065 with Rev. Matthew Plant and Rev. Richard Berg officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. A viewing will be held Sunday October 4, 2015 from 6 to 8PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 420 Park Dr., Carlisle, PA 17013.
