Kathryn Bitner

Kathryn Ella (Laughman) Bitner, 94, formerly of Gardners, PA and of Strawberry Court, Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Thornwald Home, Carlisle. She was born April 14, 1921 to the late Harry A. and Katharyn Vanasdalin Laughman.  Kathryn was the widow of Clyde W. Bitner who passed on Feburary 25, 1991.

Kathryn was a member of the former Mt. Holly Springs Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active in the Women's Group at the church. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to all.  A homemaker, Kathryn enjoyed sewing, reading and life. She loved her family dearly and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Kathryn is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son. Daughter, Kathryn E. Cranga (Joe) Lombardo of Carlisle and her family, son, Michael (Gayle) Cranga and sons, Vincent and Anthony; daughter, Andrea (Sam) Switzer and daughters, Gabriela and Josephina. Daughter, Janet (Gary) Hawbecker of Chambersburg and her family, son, Bryan (Jennifer) and daughters, Olivia and Lilyan;  daughter, Joan (Andy) Tacelosky and son, Carter; and son, David (Cheryl), their children, Ella and Joel. Son, Paul W. (Karen ) Bitner of Newville and his family, daughters, Kendra and Blair. She is also survived by a brother, Lee Laughman of Newville and a brother-in-law, Dick Greenawalt of Shippensburg. She was predeceased by 13 siblings: Glenn, Robert, Bill, Carl, George, Harry, Tom, Viola and Marie Laughman  and Ardella Allen, Mary Williams, Helen Bream and Margaret Greenawalt.

Services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM  in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be in the Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners at 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
