Joseph Winton, 88, of Boiling Springs passed away Saturday June 29 in his home. He was predeceased in death by his wife Ann Winton who passed away April 2, 2005. Joe was born April 6, 1925 in Montgomery, PA to the late Joseph George and Marie C. Stein Winton.
He was a graduate of Penn State University, where he achieved his engineering degree, and retired from PPG Industries, South Middleton Twp. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, and a volunteer for many organizations, including a swimming instructor for the YMCA, He gave over 6 gallons of blood thru the years and worked many hours in his woodshop crafting, furniture. Joe swam every day that he could at Fuller Lake. He enjoyed time and membership in both the Boiling Springs Civic Assoc., and Friends of Pine Grove.
Joseph is survived by his daughter Joan M. (Mitchell) Kotzmoyer of Elizabethtown, and three sons, Lee N. Winton, of Carlisle, Mark D. Winton of Boiling Springs, and Stephen G. Winton of Williamsport; eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine L. Winton who passed away in 1959 and his son, Bruce Joseph Winton, who passed away in 2008.
A Celebration of Life and gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday July 13 from 1:00 PM until 3:00PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Pine Grove, 1100 Pine Grove Rd. Gardners, PA 17324 or the Boiling Springs Civic Assoc ., P.O. Box 362, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
