Joseph D. Law, 94, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at VibraLife. He was born May 30, 1923 in Philadelphia to the late George Jackson and Mary Leona Dyson Law and was the widower of Hilda Jean Law, who passed away April 10, 2014
Joe retired from the Atlantic Richfield Co. as a real estate salesman. After retirement, he worked part time for sixteen years at the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt. Holly Springs. His memberships included: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, life member of the Mechanicsburg Club, and the VFW #5020, Osceola Mills, PA. An avid Penn State football fan, Joe held season tickets and spent many fall days at Beaver Stadium. He served as a Corporal in the US Army Air Corps and was a veteran of WW II.
He is survived by his daughter, Tyra E. and husband, Michael Harpster of Manassas, VA; sons, Joseph D. Law II and wife, Patrice of Mechanicsburg, Benjamin M. Law and wife, Kathleen of Columbia, and J. Daniel Law and wife, Katrina of Camp Hill. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Rebecca Stahl, Elizabeth Harpster, Nicole (Doug) Philipkosky, and Stacey, Nathan, Aaron, Adam, Trey and Morgan Law. Great-grandchildren include Bryce and Gavin Harpster, Andrew and Kathryn Stahl, and Nora, Nina and Dean Philipkosky. Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Jane Lawler, George Jackson Jr., David V., and Milton B. Law.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in his church, at 8 East Keller St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with Rev. Cannon Robert Alan Schiesler, PhD. officiating. Private inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 8 East Keller St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, or to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
