John H. Staub, 84, of Dickinson Twp., Carlisle passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1928 in Enhaut, PA to the late Mason Daniel Pratt and Permelia Phillips Staub. By God’s Grace John was born again in April 1965.
John retired from a lifetime of dairy farming. He was also a construction contractor and taught school at Lemoyne Junior High School. John was a member of Grace Baptist Church, the Cumberland County Historical Society, and the former Whirl-A-Ways Square Dancing Club. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Betty S. (Begee) Staub; a son, Hugh Mason (Kimberly) Staub of McDonald, PA; two daughters ,Peggy (Todd) Morehart of Liberty, PA and Marion (William) Ledgett of Carlisle, PA; five grandchildren, Brianna (Erick) Hedin, Mason (Lyssa) Morehart, McCall Raney and Julia Ashton Ledgett, and Raney Patricia Staub; and two great grandchildren, Eli Benjamin Hedin and Jane Ardis Morehart. Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Staub of Coudersport, PA and Vera Manning of Brigantine, NJ. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mason D. Staub Jr. and William F. Staub, and a sister, Mildred Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20 at 10:30 AM in the Grace Baptist Church, 777 West North St. Carlisle with Rev. David Campbell officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors by the Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
