John McMillan

John W. McMillan Jr., 88, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Mayapple Village, Carlisle, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015 in the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill due to stroke. John was born May 26, 1927 in Dallastown, PA to the late J. Walter and Mary Alice McCormick McMillan. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Norma Jane Dorwart who passed away April 2, 2014 and his brother, Wendell McMillan.

He was the step father to daughters, Linda Pendleton (Charles) Ward of Mechanicsburg and Kathi Pendleton of Harrisburg. Also surviving are grandchildren: Wendy Ward Sherwood, Amy Ward, Charity Wetzler Tabor, all of Pottstown, PA, Robert Wetzler of Dallas, TX and ten great grandchildren.

He graduated from the York William Penn Senior High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Lieutenant in the Naval Reserves. John was a former Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans Court of Cumberland County and was an employee of Snelbaker & Elicker Law Firm where he held the position of Estate Administrator. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Mechanicsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with the Rev. John J. Ward-Diorio officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mt. Rose Cemetery., York. Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Village Endowment Fund, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055
