John Jacobs

John M. “Mike” or “Jake” Jacobs, 68, of Gardners, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born January 11, 1946. John retired from Tyco and was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God; he started and led the Cancer Support Group at his church. He enjoyed fishing, painting, baseball and collecting Mt. Holly Springs Memorabilia, he had a heart for people. An animal lover, John cared for his horse, miniature donkey, cats and dogs, especially buddy Farley, the Pomeranian. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Zeller Jacobs having been married for 24 years; his daughter, Christie (Jeffrey) Kitzmiller of Newburg; grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron; and stepdaughter, Brooke Yenger of Carlisle. He is also survived by three brothers: Larry Bowers of Mechanicsburg, Samuel (Cindy) Bowers of Carlisle, James (Darlene) Bowers of New Cumberland, and two stepbrothers: Barry (Peggy) Wood of Louisville, GA and Larry (Lynn) Wood of Kite, GA. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Bowers, Herschel Wood, and Charles and Charlotte Jacobs.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM in his church at 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Interment will be in the Goodyear Cemetery, Gardners. A viewing will be held Friday, June 27 in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave. Mt. Holly Springs from 6:00PM until 8:00PM and at his church on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM.
