John E. Hurley, 95, of Cape Coral, FL and formerly of Carlisle, PA passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral. He was born May 31, 1921 in Plainfield, PA to the late William and Thora Jacobson Hurley and was the widower of Martha L. (Heberlig) Hurley.
John served in the US Army during World War II. He was the owner of J.E. Hurley Co. and Carlisle Builders Inc. in Carlisle. John was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Carlisle where he served as deacon and elder. He enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay Hurley Herrin and husband Ron of Cape Coral, FL and his son, Dennis E. Hurley Sr. and wife Dorothy of Carlisle; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Hurley and Heather Springer both of Carlisle, and Michelle Deutschman of Bryon Center, MI.; his brother, Leslie Hurley of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Hurley Jr., and three brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Grace Baptist Church, 777 West North St. Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. Brent Line of Naples, FL officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service in the church. Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christian School of the Grace Baptist Church, 777 West North St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
