Jane Young

Jane E. Young, 95, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg. She was born October 24, 1922 in Martinsburg, WV to the late Melvin E. and Virginia (Sullivan) Nichols Deal.

Jane was a 1943 graduate of Allegheny Hospital School, where she studied nursing and became a registered nurse. A Commissioned Officer in the US Navy Nurse Corps., she was stationed at the US Navy Base Hospital #9, Oran, North Africa in WWII. Jane was a member of the Sacred Heart Hospital Alumni Association, Cumberland MD., and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Edgar J. Young Sr. of Mechanicsburg; children, Edgar J. Young Jr. of South Port, NC, Jane E. Shelley of California, MD, Kathleen A. Stallsmith and Mary Beth Mazz, both of Mechanicsburg; and one nephew. Jane is preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey W. Young, who passed away in 2002, grandson, Kenneth Shelley and sister, Anne C. Kammauf

A graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA 17003 with Deacon Richard Wentzel officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity Retirement Fund, 333 S. Seton Ave, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
