James L. “Jim” Neff, 71, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born October 30, 1943 in Carlisle, PA to the late E. B. and Dorothy Franklin Neff.
A businessman in Mt. Holly Springs for over 30 years, Jim was the owner and operator of the Three Pines Tavern. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post # 674 and the VFW #7343, and was a former member of the Mt. Holly Springs Bucktail Gang in Clinton County. An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved going to his cabin in Pine Grove Furnace and visiting Laurel Lake. He supported all of the Carlisle sports programs and enjoyed watching college basketball. Enthusiastic antique collectors, Jim and his wife frequented local auctions. Constant companions, his dogs, Maggie and Tucker, were always by his side. Jim dearly loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy J. (Kipps) Neff of Mt. Holly Springs; 5 sons, Douglas J. (Cathy) Neff of Frederick, MD, Dru A. (Susan) Neff, David A. Neff, Devin B. (Terri) Neff and Jordan H. Neff all of Mt. Holly Springs; a daughter, Lauren A. (Brett) Smith of Cary, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren: Tia, Danielle, Cameron, Tony, Steve, Ian, Emmett, Jordan, Griffin, Grace, Jesse and Amber. Jim is also survived by his siblings Donald Neff of Gardners and Virginia Yeingst of Carlisle.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 Mcland Drive, Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065 with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the church and refreshments will be held in the church social hall following services. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of James Neff may be designated to support lung cancer research at the American Cancer Society. Direct donations to P.O.
