James Bredbenner

James R. Bredbenner, 83, of Gardners, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 in the York Hospital. He was born October 14, 1930 in Wilmington, DE to the late Virginia G. Bredbenner Williams.  Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Mellen, who passed away in 1978. He was retired from Knouse Foods and attended the Midway Pentecostal Church.  An avid woodworker, Jim also loved to read about history. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

James is survived by his wife, Josephine Bupp Bredbenner; his daughter, Dorothy Bredbenner; his granddaughter, Cassandra Bredbenner, all of Gardners; and two sons, Donald of Laurel, DE and James Jr. of Bonneville, PA. Also surviving are two stepsons, Scott Yost of Carlisle and Robert Yost of East Berlin; three stepdaughters, Barbara Starner of Ramona, CA, Donna Judd of Mechanicsburg and Kathy Jacoby of Gardners; 4 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren. In addition, surviving are two brothers, David Bredbenner of NY and Tommy Williams of DE, and two sisters, Eleanor Young of Latrobe, PA and Diana Staples of Salem, NJ. He was predeceased by his brother, Dan Bredbenner and a sister, Eileen Walker.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, PA, with Rev James Hawk and Rev. Dale Bupp officiating. Interment will be in the Idaville Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
