H. Robert Henry

H. Robert “Bob” Henry, 84, of Boiling Springs, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the Cumberland County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born December 1, 1930 in Scotland, PA to the late Harvey E. and Sara Elizabeth Golden Henry, he is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wilma J. Souder Henry. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sheila Cornman (Steve) of Carlisle and Lois Lerew (Mickey) of Wellsville, 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Betty Nickel of Carlisle and a brother, Gary Henry of Mechanicsburg. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, JoAnn Wheeler and Mary Ann Henry.

Bob enjoyed many different activities and hobbies with friends and family including: restoring cars and building a motorcycle, canoe, and dune buggy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved camping, snowmobiling, pistol competition, archery and constructing model airplanes.

Bob retired from AMP Products Inc. with 30 years of service where he worked as a Quality Control Machine Engineer. An avid hunter, he was a life member of the NRA and the Carlisle Fish and Game where he served on the Board of Directors, facilitated the Archery Program and was a Hunter Safety instructor. Bob was also a member of the Churchtown Church of God, belonged to AARP, was a member of the Carlisle Modelers Airplane Club, a life member of AMP Nimrod, and was one of the original members of the Thompson Flying Club that was established in 1955. He and his wife did custom reloading for Nick’s Gun Shop for many years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM and  a visitation at 10:00 AM in the Churchtown Church of God, 351 Old Stonehouse Rd. South, PO Box 327, Boiling Springs, PA 17007 with the Rev. Brian Warner officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to his church or the American Heart Assoc., 1019 Mumma Rd., Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
