Hilda Miller

Hilda K. Miller, 85, of Gardners, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her devoted family and friends, when her Lord and Savior called her home. She was born December 1, 1931 in Adams County to the late Christian and Clara Kinter Griest. Hilda graduated from York Springs High School Class of 1950. She retired as a supervisor, with 27 years of service, from Peter J. Swietzer Co. (Kimberly Clark). As an active member of Chapel Hill Church of God, York Springs, she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. Hilda loved being outdoors, including mowing grass on her John Deere Tractor and gardening; she also enjoyed singing for local churches. Family was important to Hilda. She loved them dearly and was especially devoted to her grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard M. Miller; a daughter, Jeannine K. (Gary L.) Slaybaugh of Gardners; and two grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Cramer of Camp Hill and Michael (Sarah) Slaybaugh of Charlotte, NC.  Also surviving are her siblings: Lester R. Griest, Romaine M. Weidner, Velma Pentz, Dorothy H. Bream and Joan(Leroy) Bream, all of Carlisle. She was predeceased by her siblings, Herbert, Melvin, Amos, Carolyn and Janet Griest, Nellie LaRue, Violet Brandt and Evelyn Eichelberger.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Chapel Hill Church of God, 4521 Oxford Rd., York Springs, PA 17372 at 10:00AM with Rev. Dr. Randal Huber officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at 9:00am. Interment will be in the in the Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill Church of God or SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, 260 W. High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
