Hilda Jean Dixon Law, 88, of Mechanicsburg passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 in her home. She was born in Osceola Mills, PA on November 19, 1925 to the late Thomas and Hilda Warner Dixon. Jean graduated from the Episcopal School of Nursing, Philadelphia and worked there after her schooling. She was an active member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mechanicsburg, participating in St. Luke’s ECW, Prayer Group, Alter Guild and Bible studies. Also, Jean was the past president of the ECW of Central PA. She loved to read, collect pennies and when traveling, collected vials of water from different parts of the world. Jean dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Joseph D. Law; her daughter, Tyra E. and husband Michael Harpster of Manassas, VA; sons, Joseph D. II and wife Patrice Law, of Mechanicsburg, Benjamin M. and wife Kathleen Law of Columbia, J. Daniel and wife Katrina Law of Camp Hill. Jean’s grandchildren include: Rebecca Stahl, Elizabeth Harpster, Nicole (Doug) Philipkosky, and Stacey, Nathan, Aaron, Adam, Trey and Morgan Law. Her great grandchildren are Bryce and Gavin Harpster, Andrew and Kathryn Stahl, and Nora and Nina Philipkosky. Jean was predeceased by her siblings: Lucille Eldridge, Marybelle Dixon, Gladys Albert and John G. Dixon. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM in her church, 8 East Keller St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, at corner of Market and Keller Streets, with Father Chris Mason officiating. Interment will be in the church columbarium. A visitation in her church will follow the services. Handicap parking is reserved beside the church, all others may park at the Grace United Methodist Church, 216 S. Market St., corner of Market and Simpson Streets. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorial contributions may be made to her church or to New Hope Ministries, 5228 E. Trindle Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
