Helen Louise (Hershman) Arnold, 90, of Carlisle and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born August 8, 1931, in Mechanicsburg, the only child of the late Herbert L. “Turk” & Ruth Kyle Hershman and was the widow of Bruce A. Arnold, who passed away December 13, 1978.
She was a 1949 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and a 1983 graduate of Harrisburg Steelton-Highspire Vocational Technical School of Practical Nursing. She was a homemaker while her children were young and then worked in insurance for 10 years. At the age of 52, she became a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle until she retired. She was a member of the Shiremanstown First Church of God and volunteered for many years at the Mechanicsburg Museum and Church of God Home, Carlisle. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and quilting. She lives on in us with the love she gave, the wisdom she shared, the wit she showed, and the notes and cards she wrote.
Surviving are her daughter and husband, Janet & Michael Bohn; son, Robert B. Arnold; and daughter and husband, Joan & Timothy Brothers; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 12:00 PM, in the Shiremanstown First Church of God, 35 South Locust St, Shiremanstown, PA 17011 followed immediately by a time of fellowship and refreshments. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will held privately in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Mt.
